Surprisingly, CNN reports the story of a Loganville mother who saves her two 9 year old daughters by shooting a home invader 5 times.

“My wife is a hero.  She protected her kids.  She did what she was suppose to do as a responsible prepared gun owner.”

Melinda Herman, mother of two and wife to Donnie Herman, defends her two daughters when an intruder breaks into their home in broad daylight.  The scary part of the story is that she shot 6 times, hitting him 5 times, yet the intruder was able to flee the scene.. had there been a second intruder, this story might not be a happy one.

From CNN:

“Stay in the attic,” he instructed her, calmly.

“He’s in the bedroom,” she told him. He repeated the words to the 911 operator.

“Shh. Relax,” Herman said, trying to calm his wife.

Then he instructed her to do what was fast becoming a realistic possibility.

“Melinda — if he opens up the door, you shoot him! You understand?”
