Although I live in Hiawassee, GA where NOTHING IS A “GUN FREE ZONE” I visit the Mall of Georgia whenever I am in the area for doctor appointments or to visit my daughter’s family. I have walked into the Mall several times in the past few months with an OPEN CARRY and only once did a security guard tell me to leave. I refused and he said he would call the Gwinnett Police. I said do so because it would probably my son-in-law that would arrive. That shut up the mall guard and he left me alone although I was fallowed all over the Mall for the next several hours. I do think one of the advantages I have is the cane I carry for back & leg pain sustained in a wreck in 1999 that’s left me disabled with handicapped tags.

I have seen a few people walking around, open carrying, and usually a security guard is riding not far behind. Last time was about a month ago.. the guy passed me as I was walking inside one of the entrances to the mall (he was walking out). A few minutes later I saw 3 security guards headed for the door he exited. lol

While refusal to leave a property is never recommended, I commend your confidence and dedication. We have to face the facts that in almost every instance, the police arrive AFTER the horror occurs. This leaves those of us who are physically and mentally able to assist and “hold down the fort” until they can arrive (usually to clean things up). This terrifies them.

I think it is funny that The Mall of Georgia can tell us NO FIREARMS ALLOWED (concealed or open), but yet DICKS sporting goods, which is a a store in THEIR mall, can SELL handguns, which are in a glass case for everyone to see. So, i am not allowed to come in your mall with a firearm but i can come in, buy one and leave with it???????? COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!!
